Mootcort

The Moot Court is an integral part of the academic and practical training offered at the college, especially in legal education. As a newly established institution committed to excellence in law, the college recognizes the importance of mooting as a vital tool for developing advocacy skills, legal research and courtroom etiquette among students. A Moot Court simulates real-life court proceedings where students prepare and present arguments on hypothetical legal problems before a panel of judges. This activity not only familiarizes students with the procedural aspects of litigation but also sharpens their legal reasoning, analytical thinking and public speaking abilities skills that are crucial for a successful legal career. To provide hands-on exposure, the college has set up a dedicated Moot Court Hall, designed to reflect the formal layout and decorum of an actual courtroom. It serves as the venue for regular moot sessions, practice rounds, inter-class competitions and training programs. Students are trained to prepare memorials, structure arguments, cite legal authorities and address the court in a professional manner. Through these sessions, they learn to research complex legal issues, apply statutes and precedents and develop persuasive arguments within the framework of law and ethics.

The Moot Court Committee, managed by faculty and student coordinators, plays a central role in organizing and promoting mooting culture on campus. It conducts orientation sessions for first-year students, internal selection rounds for external competitions and workshops on drafting, legal citation and oral advocacy. The committee also identifies reputed national and international moot court competitions and encourages students to participate, offering guidance, mentorship and support at every stage. Participation in such competitions gives students an opportunity to compete with peers from leading law institutions, interact with legal experts and gain national-level exposure.

Even in its early years, the college has made it a priority to integrate moot court training as part of the curriculum. Students are encouraged to participate in intra-college moot competitions, which are judged by faculty members, practicing advocates or judges invited from the legal fraternity. These internal moots help build confidence and prepare students for larger platforms. In addition to traditional moot court formats, the college also promotes client counseling sessions, mock trials, arbitration exercises and legal drafting competitions, to ensure a well-rounded practical legal education.

The ultimate aim of the Moot Court activity is to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and legal practice. It instills in students the discipline, professionalism, and attention to detail required in real courtroom situations. Mooting also cultivates values such as fairness, respect for opposing views and a deep appreciation for the rule of law. Over time, the college envisions hosting its own annual moot court competition, attracting participants from across the country and establishing itself as a hub for legal debate and dialogue.
