Special Lecture

Special Lectures are an important part of the academic life at the college, designed to enhance classroom learning by introducing students to expert insights, contemporary legal developments and real-world experiences beyond the textbook. Even as a newly established institution, the college is committed to providing quality legal education through diverse learning methods and special lectures serve as a vital academic tool in this direction. These lectures are conducted regularly by inviting eminent scholars, judges, senior advocates, policymakers, academicians, public officials, and professionals from various fields, who bring with them a wealth of knowledge, experience, and perspective. The goal is to expose students to specialized areas of law and policy that may not be fully covered in the regular curriculum and to inspire them through the experiences and journeys of respected figures in the legal and academic community.

Special lectures are organized by individual departments, academic committees, or student-run bodies such as the Moot Court Society, Legal Aid Cell, and Debate Committee, depending on the subject and theme of the session. Topics range from core legal subjects like constitutional law, criminal justice, human rights and environmental law to emerging areas such as cyber law, artificial intelligence, data privacy, climate justice and gender equality. These sessions often include interactive discussions, allowing students to ask questions and engage with the speaker in meaningful dialogue. This helps in developing a deeper understanding of the subject and encourages students to think critically and analytically.

The college believes that learning must go beyond the classroom to prepare students for the practical challenges of the legal profession. Special lectures play a key role in bridging the gap between theory and practice. For instance, a lecture by a retired judge or a practicing lawyer offers students insights into courtroom behavior, advocacy techniques, judicial ethics and case strategy. Similarly, lectures by policy experts and civil society leaders provide exposure to social justice movements, public interest litigation and the role of law in promoting equity and reform. These events are open to all students and are often followed by certificate distribution to encourage participation and acknowledge academic curiosity. The college also makes efforts to record and archive special lectures, so that students who miss them or wish to revisit the material can benefit from them at any time. Occasionally, collaborative lectures and online guest sessions are arranged in association with other institutions, law firms or NGOs, broadening the scope of learning and offering national or international perspectives.

Special lectures are also held to commemorate important days like Constitution Day, Human Rights Day, Women’s Day, and Law Day, where invited speakers address relevant constitutional, social, or legal themes. These sessions add depth to students’ understanding of the legal system and their role as future custodians of justice.
